How do I choose which Oracle Cards to buy?
I frequently get asked this question because there are so many different oracle decks available now and they are always sealed when you buy them. This means that you can’t get a good look at all the images and see how the deck feels in your hands. I like to think of this challenge as the first step to tapping into your inner wisdom that the cards will then help you develop the more you work with them. After all, oracle cards are simply a form of divination we use to connect with the receptive/right/intuitive side of the brain and receive divine guidance. The important part is to find a deck that really resonates with you. Here are two ways I pick my decks.
Beginners:
Initially do some research and look at the huge variety of decks available on the internet
If you are lucky enough to have a metaphysical shop that carries a wide range of decks then pay them a visit
Read the information and look at the imagery/colours/symbols on the ones that you like
Is there an author or specific theme (crystals, chakras, angels etc.) that you keep being drawn to right now?
Make a note of the different ones that catch your eye
Bring your focus down to your heart centre
Are there any decks that create an immediate reaction within you?
That you feel instantly connected to?
Which ones make you feel good when you look at them?
Which ones expand your heart energy?
Create a list of the different decks you really like and are drawn to and then give yourself a couple of days to come up with a decision
Don’t rush the process
Feel for the answer
Which deck speaks to you so much that it keeps popping into your head at unexpected moments?
Which deck is calling you?
That is the deck to choose right now
Experienced:
Have a selection of decks in front of you either on the internet or in person
Close your eyes for several seconds
Bring your attention down to your heart centre and focus on your breath
Open your eyes
Which deck do you instantly see above all the rest?

Tips for using Oracle Cards
Here are a few of my top tips for using Oracle Cards:

Always take 3 conscious slow breaths before starting to come into the present moment

Consciously move from active thinking mode into receptive intuitive mode by dropping down into your heart centre

Keep repeating your question very slowly (for example, what do I need to know today?) as you connect to the energy of the cards in your hands

You can select 1 card every morning as a focus for the day ahead

On significant days like the New/Full Moon, Eclipses, Equinoxes/Solstices or any type of portal, take more time and do a more in-depth reading of 3 or more cards

You can mix and match different decks of cards in the same reading

Leve the guidebook in the box as looking at it will switch you back into thinking mode

When you have chosen a specific card simply spend time looking at it and taking in the whole image, keeping your focus in your heart centre

Observe and take note of any images, words, feelings or knowing that comes to you as this is your guidance

Leave selected cards out in view as a visual reminder to work with the energies and associated guidance

Place an appropriate crystal on each card to help amplify the energy and help you access more guidance and support
